Harness your Power and Passion to Win!

“There are two words that are overused in industry: ‘team’ and ‘leader’. Dr. Maddalena reminds us that a leader is not always the face of the team or the most vocal: leaders are connected members of teams dedicated to the team’s success. I appreciate how this book weaves experiences with sled dogs into case studies of companies then broadens the perspective by referring to subject matter experts. This three-fold approach takes us from commanding a team, to being on a trail, to winning as an informed leader.”
— Rolando “Roly” Acosta, President/CEO, JAG Companies, Inc.

Each chapter of the book offers the reader four different perspectives to challenge and inspire, gain new insights,  and explore new trails for an exciting, rewarding future.

  • TEAMWORK TALES FROM THE TRAIL: Sled dog stories that inspire acceptance of new challenges.
  • CASE STUDIES IN LEADERSHIP: Capture struggles and successes while developing a career and maintaining a satisfying home life.
  • INSIGHT: Subject matter experts explore why we work, when we play, how teams form, and the importance of connecting with others.
  • TASK: Determine your position on a sled dog team and explore your drive to win.

“Just as Dr. Maddalena highlights in the case studies: you have the power to overcome obstacles and find where you belong, where you are motivated, and where you can thrive.”

Supporting Strength: Percentage of Book Sales Dedicated to Osteogenesis Imperfecta Research & Support

My three-year-old grandson was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta type 1, a disorder where the body does not produce enough collagen, leading to brittle bones. In the past year alone he suffered five breaks; including his femur which required a full body cast for 6 weeks, and months of physical therapy.

This condition is rare, meaning there’s less public awareness, and in turn, less funding for research. While the disease cannot be cured, new treatments developed in the past two decades have dramatically improved the quality of life for those suffering from this disorder. But more is needed.

I have chosen to donate a percentage of the profits from the sale of MOVING ON BY! to raise awareness and contribute to ongoing research. I hope you will consider contributing as well by reaching out to The OI Foundation, at

On behalf of our family, I thank you. My grandson truly embodies the foundation’s motto: “Unbreakable Spirit.”
